HOW LIDAR IS REVOLUTIONIZING MAPPING AND GEOSPATIAL DATA
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is a remote sensing technology that uses rapid laser pulses to map out the surface of the earth. LiDAR is useful when used to create high resolution digital surfaces, terrain and elevation models used for various business applications. In the past, companies would need to use a separate personalized system for each application.

How does LiDAR work?
LiDAR, which stands for “light detection and ranging,” is a technology that has been around for many decades but has only recently been available in a size and power feasible for carrying on large drones. A LiDAR sensor sends out pulses of laser light and measures the exact time it takes for these pulses to return as they bounce from the ground. It also measures intensity of reflection.
